This is a challenging time for brides and anyone in the wedding and event industry. With the Covid 19 pandemic getting worse across the country, many brides are being forced to postpone or cancel their weddings, due to guidelines required by venues to limit the number of guests at social gatherings. Additionally brides have a specific vision in mind for their big day, and it likely does not include wearing masks and adhearing to social distancing guidelines. 

Brides aren't the only ones affected by these constantly changing guidelines. Venues, photographers, DJ's, bands, videographers, and florists are all greatly impacted. Sometimes a new date is selected and the already booked vendor can easily transfer the needs to the new date. Other times it's more complicated. Sometimes the newly selected date is already booked for a specific vendor, or the bride decides to cancel at the very last minute. Often times supplies are already ordered, staff is already lined up, food is ordered, flowers are procured from the farm, etc. 

Gidas Flowers is doing it's best to transfer all orders to the brides newly selected date with no change/transfer costs unless the new date falls on a holiday weekend or Sunday when we are normally closed. In these cases, an extra delivery/setup fee is added for staff to come in on the holiday or Sunday when we would be closed and work overtime hours.  

With regards to flowers for your Pittsburgh wedding, very specific varieties are a bit more limited than normal due to challenges in the supply chain because of Covid. Farms were forced to dump crops when demand dropped off in April and May, and even now, demand is much lower than normal so production at the farm level has slowed. Hopefully this will change as things start to pick up, but time will tell.
