Flowers during Covid 19
Posted by Jason Gidas on 14th May 2020
Mother's Day is an extremely busy time of year in the floral industry. It falls in the middle of the month of May which has graduations, proms, weddings, and many special events. This year things are very different. Covid 19 has changed the entire landscape of how we go about our daily lives. Events and weddings have been cancelled. School and proms have been cancelled. In person graduations have been cancelled in favor of virtual ones. All those special occasions that are typically celebrated with loved ones, and decorated and made extra special with flowers, have been postponed or cancelled. These are tough times for all of us.
We have had to adjust how we do things at Gidas Flowers. The retail portion of our flower shop is temporarily closed to walk in customers. However, we are able to take orders online or over the phone. All deliveries are contactless deliveries, meaning packages are delivered to the doorstep of the customer and then the person is called to let them know they have a delivery. We can no longer directly hand a package to the recipient. Masks are required to be worn at all times by delivery drivers, as well as staff working inside of the flower shop. 6 feet of distance is maintained between workers within the flower shop.
No one knows how long the restrictions will last, or how long before things will be back to "normal."
Rest assure that Gidas Flowers, your local Pittsburgh Florist, is there for you now, and will be there for you in the future.
Even though flower availability has been limited by the virus, we are still able to get outstanding product from all over the world. We receive shipments multiple times a week with product from South America, California, Holland, and of course locally. Be strong. Be safe. We will get through this!
